November 2009 Dinner Dance was a huge success!
This year’s Dinner Dance was a resounding success in every way.
The theme: “What You Were Wearing when the Ship Went Down” was Linda Lane’s partying gift to the
group: and what a gift! We had pyjamas, ball gowns, cocktail gowns, black tie, uniforms, swimsuits and
even one poor gentleman who was quite obviously engaged in a bathroom activity when the lifeboats
were launched!
The buffet was sumptuous: turkey, ham, pork, shrimp, rice, salads, pastas: the BIWG Ladies excelled
themselves and everyone was extremely satisfied. The décor had to be seen to be believed: one lady exclaimed
“I’m no longer in Belmopan!” The George Price Centre had been transformed into a cruise ship, with elegant tables, the
sea just visible through the portholes and beautiful starry sky above.
A special thank you to Commander John Borland who stoically stood by to welcome on
board our very bizarre array of passengers. And finally of course, the whole point of the evening: thanks to the
generosity of sponsors and donors, we managed to separate our passengers from $23,417 of their hard-earned dollars, which after
expenses means that the BIWG bank account now stands at $32,414 Well done us all! "What Were You Wearing When the Ship went Down?"
Check out the Blast we had!
